Lot 556: A Collection of Five Hand-Painted Porcelain Bird Figurines
A collection of five porcelain bird figurines, naturalistically modelled and decorated with hand-painted polychrome enamels. The group includes a Waxwing with its characteristic crest perched on a branch accented with red berries, a European Robin on a textured stump base, a Nuthatch depicted in a characteristic head-downwards pose, a blue-headed songbird perched on a branch, and a smaller songbird on a simple white base. The modelling and finish are consistent with 20th-century European ceramic manufacturers such as Goebel or Beswick, although no manufacturer marks or signatures are visible in the provided images.
Condition report:
The figurines appear to be in good overall condition. There are no obvious chips, cracks, or professional repairs visible to the beaks, crests, or tail tips. Some minor surface wear and dust consistent with age.
