Lot 657: An Assortment of Shelley Chelsea Pattern Tableware, Norman Rockwell Collector Plates, and Decorative Porcelain
This collection of ceramics includes items from English and American manufacturers. The lot features a set of Shelley fine bone china in the Chelsea pattern (No. 11280), comprising one large round bowl, three square-lobed bowls, and two oval bowls. These items are decorated with delicate transfer-printed floral sprigs on a white ground with scalloped edges. The bases bear the green Shelley England manufacturer mark within a scrolled cartouche and the Chelsea pattern name.
Also included are four porcelain collector plates featuring transfer-printed scenes after illustrations by Norman Rockwell. The plates include The Lighthouse Keeper’s Daughter, part of the Rockwell Heritage Collection, which is marked on the reverse with the Knowles manufacturer mark, plate number 5146A, and a certification from the Rockwell Society of America dated 1978. Other scenes depicted include an old man with children, a girl at a mirror, and an elderly man with a boy playing an accordion.
The assortment further contains a blue and gold floral porcelain set consisting of one large platter and at least five dinner plates. These pieces feature broad cobalt blue borders with yellow-tone scrolled patterns and central transfer-printed floral bouquets with scalloped, gilt-style rims. Completing the lot are two small decorative pin dishes: one featuring a green border and one oval dish with a central floral motif.
