Lot 77: UK 2022 Tutankhamun Centenary Commemorative Medal and Decorative Figures
Attributed to the Treasures of the Pharaohs commemorative series, this lot comprises a numismatic presentation set and associated decorative Egyptian-style objects marking the centenary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. The primary item is a silver-coloured commemorative medal or coin in uncirculated, proof-like condition, featuring a profile portrait of the Pharaoh on the obverse with the legend TUTANKHAMUN’S TOMB 100TH ANNIVERSARY DISCOVERY. The set is presented in a black folder titled Treasures of a Golden Pharaoh: TUTANKHAMUN 100, containing multiple coin capsules and a Certificate of Authenticity folder. Also included is an assortment of hand-carved decorative figures, including two canopic jars with lids shaped as a human head and a falcon, along with a standing figurine. These items are crafted from a dark, polished organic material and embellished with incised pseudo-hieroglyphs.
