Lot 210: A Vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear No Y-2 1914 Prince Henry Vauxhall
A vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear No. Y-2 1914 Prince Henry Vauxhall model car, manufactured by Lesney Products & Co. Ltd. from the 1970 period. The vehicle is of die-cast metal construction featuring a metallic purple body and chassis, contrasted by a silver-painted bonnet. The interior consists of two pale yellow plastic seats with a quilted texture. Additional details include brass-toned plastic accessories such as the radiator, headlamps, and a side-mounted horn, along with a black steering wheel and spoked wheels with black tyres. The underside of the chassis is embossed with the text: copyright 1970 LESNEY, PROD. & CO. LTD., MATCHBOX MODELS OF YESTERYEAR, No Y-2, 1914 PRINCE HENRY VAUXHALL, and MADE IN ENGLAND. The model is presented in a non-original plain brown corrugated cardboard box which bears a white typed collector’s label and a lot sticker reading Lot 210 for HCP Auctions South West. The typed label incorrectly describes this model as having a red body and white seats.
