A vintage Lesney Matchbox Models of Yesteryear 1912 Simplex, reference number Y-9, featuring a gold-toned body and contrasting red mudguards and chassis. The model is constructed from die-cast metal with plastic components, including a textured black canopy and a four-spoke steering wheel. It is fitted with brass-toned spoked wheels on straight metal axles, a brass-finished radiator, front lamps, and a side-mounted spare tyre. The underside of the chassis is cast with the marks MADE IN ENGLAND BY LESNEY and “MODELS OF YESTERYEAR” “MATCHBOX” NO Y-9, alongside the model identification 1912 SIMPLEX. Included is a plain brown cardboard storage box with a white adhesive label typed with MATCHBOX YESTERYEAR, Y Y9 1912 SIMPLEX GOLD BODY, RED MUDGUARDS, BLACK HOOD, Y5 1929 4 1/2 LITRE BENTLEY, GREEN BODY RED SEATS, UNION FLAG ON SIDE AND No 5. The box also bears a modern white adhesive auction label for Lot 211 from HCP Auctions South West.
