Lot 1037: A Vintage Wooden Novelty Violin-Shaped Serving Board / Decorative Plaque
A vintage wooden novelty violin-shaped serving board / decorative plaque, fashioned from a single piece of light-toned wood. The piece is cut to the silhouette of a violin body, featuring upper, lower, and C-bouts, with an integrated flat handle at the top where a traditional neck would be located. The front face is decorated with two black-painted f-holes, while the reverse is plain wood. The wood surface shows a natural grain and appears to have a very light clear finish or remains unfinished. A small white rectangular adhesive label is present on the lower bout of the front face, which reads HCP Auctions South West and Lot 1037 in printed black text. No manufacturer marks, brand names, or stamps are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The item is in used condition. Multiple shallow surface scratches and scuff marks are visible across the front face (photo 1). There are areas of darkening and localized staining on the wood, particularly near the top edge and on the handle section (photo 1). Minor wear and small impact marks are evident along the perimeter edges and on the reverse side (photo 2).
