Lot 595: A Collection of Vintage Seltmann Weiden and Wedgwood Porcelain Collector Plates
A collection of vintage Seltmann Weiden and Wedgwood porcelain and bone china collector plates, featuring limited edition designs from the late 20th century. The floral plate, identified as Iris Quartet, displays a soft-palette composition of irises and foxgloves with a butterfly, signed Lena Liu to the lower right. The German porcelain plate, titled Vor der Schmiede, depicts a rural village scene and bears a printed green and gold backstamp for Seltmann Weiden, identifying it as plate number 6969 from the Christian Luckel’s idyllisches Dorfleben series, dated 1986. Included is a certificate of authenticity for a Wedgwood fine bone china plate titled Early Morning Milk from the Chris Howell’s Country Days series. The collection is housed in original protective polystyrene inserts and cardboard boxes.
Condition report:
The porcelain plates are in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or surface losses to the glaze or gilded rims (photos 1 and 2). The original cardboard boxes and polystyrene protective inserts show moderate storage-related wear, including surface marks and residue from adhesive tape (photo 3).
