Lot 859: A Vintage Collection of 1960s and 1970s Vinyl 7-inch Singles
A vintage collection of approximately 60–80 7-inch vinyl singles (45 RPM), primarily from the 1960s and 1970s. The assortment is housed in a red cardboard storage case featuring an integrated black plastic front handle. The records span various genres including soul, pop, and dance orchestra music, largely consisting of UK pressings. Visible labels include His Master’s Voice (HMV) and UNI. Specific titles observed include Walkin’ in the Rain with the One I Love by Love Unlimited (UN 539, 1972) and Latino – Cha Cha by Joe Loss and His Orchestra (45-POP 888, 1961). The UNI record bears a printed label stating MADE IN ENGLAND · THE DECCA RECORD CO. LTD. while the HMV disc is marked MADE IN GT. BRITAIN. Most discs are stored in replacement plain paper or card sleeves, many of which bear handwritten titles and names in ink, including FRANCIS, ROBOT MAN, and MAMA.
Condition report:
The paper and card sleeves show significant signs of age-related wear, including tanning, foxing, creasing, and frayed edges (photo 1). Several sleeves have split seams and handwritten ink marks (photo 2). The vinyl discs show some visible spindle marks to the central labels and surface dust across the grooves (photo 3). The collection is offered as found and is untested for playback quality. Disc Grade: G to VG; Sleeve Grade: P to F.
